Remember in a poem- Less is more!

Two things you can try: buy a new power strip with surge suppression built in. Even if you are already using one, the suppressors in cheap power strips eventually wear out when they are constantly being bombarding with spikes. The other thing you can try is to go to an electrical supply store and buy a regular light bulb rated for 130 volts instead of 120 volts (these are often used in commercial and industrial applications because they last longer.) You could also call the power company and ask them to check the line voltage at your house and to recommend corrective procedures if they find an overvoltage. This can be hard on your appliances too. They may recommend installing a surge suppressor and surge capacitor directly on your service panel to absorb spikes and surges on the whole house. Actually, this is something everyone would be wise to do — it protects everything electrical in the house.

LOL. not sure about but it is a little cheesy especially the witnesses description of the crime scene. The LT. being a crooked cop is not bad. He has to be really good at subterfuge and it would be really fun if the reader know he was a crooked cop until much later in the story. You want them to root for the cop until the crucial moment that you want them to sympathizing with the anti-hero robber.

With a little editing and revision this could be really good, but revising until you have finished your first draft. Your first draft can be vomit, but by the 2nd revision your story should be pretty tight.

I would probably continue to read but this is a very excerpt and I usually read the first 5 pages of a book before I borrow or buy. If it hook me I walk away.

"If you are ill, let me fetch you a doctor. We have our own private family physician."

In a few of the sentences where people are talking you may want to replace the period with a comma.
For example place a comma after the word
"I brought Ever a cold towel for her eyes," replied who I thought must have been Damen.

But other than that it looks good. Most of your quotes are
"Sentence here," said somebody.

You can split it up in the middle to add variation for example:

"Oh Ever, this is Nico," Sarah chirped, "he is our new neighbor. His housemates are waiting downstairs in the lounge." She nudged me indicating that I need to get up and these people.

forget to a new paragraph and indent every time you change speakers. Also, not sure where from, but in the US we spell realize with a but if from England then they spell it with an 's'.
